No fucking at work
Well I ended up going in tonight instead of saying, "Piss off" and going to a wine tasting and a panel on plant medicine instead. What did it get me? Three times what I made last week, two times what I made the week before that. What a night.
One of the clients was a younger man from Kansas... he and his even younger cousin are in town visiting, and the poor cousin isn't having such a good time of it. He'd never been to a place like Eros, and it can be intimidating the first time (or three).
I'm ready either for emotional eating or bedtime. Since I don't have any... wait a minute. There's a french pastry in the fridge. It's a tropezienne, from the newish french bistro on Castro.
Oh, neat... I wondered what the stuff on top was:
Baker's crystallized sugar: This is a special kind of "puffed" sugar used is French pastries. It looks like "rice crispies" and has about the same light texture and crunch. It's very difficult to find this type of sugar, but worth the effort to make your Tarte Tropézienne look authentic. The only luck I've had in San Francisco is buying some from a local French bakery.
That was yummy. oK, NOW bedtime.

I used to have that sugar on brioche, when I was a kid. Delicious.
