Do I smell?
Desmond says I have "a scent". He claims to like it, of course, but the last person to make either one of these claims (she did make both), was a girl in high school named Katryna.
Apparently, ladies and gentlemen, I smell.
Moreover, it lingers. It's stinking up our bedroom. He doesn't smell it in the morning, he says, until he leaves for a while and then comes back in.
That's how dog smell works.
Except mine's there all the time. Not just since I started using new deodorant, he says it's not body odor, it's "my scent" and that's supposed to be different and not make me hate myself (it does), and it's been there ever since he's known me.
So, I wand a second opinion. And a third, and fourth. Please be honest. Do I smell? What can I do about it?

You don't "smell". I never meant that and wish I could explain it better. There is a scent and perhaps its pherimones (spelling?). Either way, its part of the attraction to you. Its what makes me miss you when you're not there. I believe we all have a scent in some way and really surprised you haven't smelled mine.

You have a scent, and I remember it being nice, but it's not just you. I remember the scent of other people, too. Shira's got one and I'm right there with Desmond -- it makes me miss her when she's not around. I think anyone you're close enough to, spend enough time with, you learn their scent. As Martha would say, it's a good thing.

Yeah, I had a friend from college, who I ended up rooming with in Seattle, who told me he was friends with me partially because he liked the way I smelled. Apparently he specifically has smells that identify friends and non-friends. Totally straight guy, incidentally. I thought it was weird too, but I guess I've learned not to worry about it.
When people start telling you that you smell bad, that's when to worry. :)
