Shit shit guys
I spent the entire hour of Yoga this morning doing my own things. Green did a postural evaluation for me and we came up with a number of exercises I could be doing... so this morning I copied them all to my Treo and then hiked up the hill to do them.
It was nice, I left feeling really good. I tried holding stretches for more than two minutes in order to allow the fascia time to soften, and it really seemed to help. I did energy tuneup, some chakra work, some self-love exercises, some habit modification work, arch (of foot) strengthening, lateral rotator stretches, back line stretching (calves, quads, back, neck), QL stretching, pec stretching/rhomboid strengthening, and deep neck flexor strengthening.
In Deep Tissue we had our Nuero-Muscular Therapy lecture, and then started neck/back/shoulder integration. Tomorrow we'll complete the trade (I get to receive!) and who knows what else.
Wednesday we'll begin: Anterior Neck. Dunh dunh dunh. Not scalenes, SCM, etc. That's "Supine Neck" on the syllabus. Anterior neck, as far as I know, involves the hyoids and suchlike.
I've been looking forward to this session all quarter as well, and already committed Shannon--during sometime like Week 2--to being my partner on that day.
Amy's sick, Kudra's sick, and Teal's not on campus, so it was just me, Warren, and Sarah for clinic. I talked Warren into substituting so I wouldn't have to make the class up, and Sarah came along for the ride. We had a good time, talked about my sessions and hers, and that was that.
My afternoon cancelled on me, so here I am posting and about to leave for dinner.
Tonight's Supervised Practice is "Practitioner's Choice", but I'm pretty much willing to do whatever session the client wants.
Thank the universe for Warren. My next two weeks are tightly scheduled in order to complete my program and some other things (say, planning graduation) and I couldn't afford to try to fit another two hours somewhere for a make-up class.
I've been scheduling around my clinic regulars all quarter, and now in the end they're having to schedule around me a bit. I have all but one of the required remaining sessions scheduled. I hope no one cancels! We're running out of leeway room!

Last mile
Week 8 is over. Two weeks to go. It's a little insane.
So much going on. I'm working on getting people to my graduation, working on planning graduation, Coffee House is coming up, plus attempting to, you know, complete my program.
But, I got a lot of ego stroking during clinic today. The second client, especially... stopped in the middle of the session to tell me how great it was going... tipped me $10 afterward and re-booked him and his wife for next week.
Desmond arrives next Thursday, in time for coffee house. I'm hoping he'll read some poetry... everyone's looking forward to it. oK, just the one friend I told so far. Anyway.
This is all I have left to turn in for school:
- 6 hours of yoga
- 2 Pathology reports
- Business plan
- Business presentation
- 3 Exercise therapy sessions
- 5 Clinic regular sessions
- 2 Friday clinic sessions
- 8 Deep Tissue sessions
I think. I hope. :-)

Is relanded a word?
Landing accomplished. First day of class post extended-weekend-mission. Insane, but accomplished.
Internal TMJ work in class today. YES! The rest of the class was a little bodywork-weary, but I've been waiting for this session for half the quarter, the whole time afraid that we might not get to it.
So technically it's not deep tissue. I think it's NMT (neuro-muscular therapy). Whatever. It rocks.
Finally: a way to enjoy mouths and fingers that's not sexual. Very intimate though. The best bodywork seems to be... from thai stretches to deep diaphragm releasing.
After everything we had time to pick flower essences. Again we sat in a circle, put out intentions, used the pendulum. Into a spray bottle to spray the room and ourselves. Hopefully to help us get through the next few weeks. This morning felt like the end of Week 9, not the beginning of Week 8.
Meetings, meetings, meetings. Graduation, personal stuff, touched base with several people. Ended up with enough time to do email before Pathology.
Got through class, got dinner, and then had a session.
I received a session. Woot. From Warren! Yay. Got my second required professional session out of the way, got to see how he does his sessions, and got some nice work done. Neck (scalenes!), pecs, and back.
Only had a touch, a residue, of grief come up with the scalenes... when he got on an attachment site... and then it went away. And that was all. I feel pretty complete on it now. Glad not to have all that stuff stored there anymore.
He did crazy ass Connective Tissue on my pecs. It was insane, intense and painful. But oh so useful.
Talked with Desmond. Great end to the day. Almost... had to call Bruce and make sure he was still alive. He didn't respond to my "are you alive?" email today, so...
And now, blessed, glorious, wonderful sleeeeep.

Brief --> 3 more weeks to go
Green and I got back from San Francisco in time for dinner.
Missions accomplished
- Reconnected with desmond
- Supported Green in her own missions (I hope I accomplished this!)
- Made Ste3ve hurt sooo good ;-)
- Met with a DJ to work out details to get him up for graduation
- Saw Mukesh Desai, from India, perform
- Obtained a spray bottle and two pairs of handcuffs for Deep Tissue class. Don't ask.
Also visited with kenjie. His journal inspired me to take a little quiz:

Which animal totem best suits you?

Psoas, tests, winding down
Got through the day. We did abdominal work today... which includes psoas. Maybe you've heard of them, they're deep core muscles that run from the top of your leg (femur), connect to the inside of your hip bone, and then up onto the bottom part of the spine (lumbar vertebrae). Plenty of people grow old and die without ever having them touched... often storehouses of past traumas. So today was quite the class for the half that received. One person started crying on the table.
I receive tomorrow, but I've received the work before.
A&P test, I got 8 out of 50 wrong.
I'm completely in love with my deep tissue instructors (teacher and TA). They rock my world.
Deep Tissue feels really empowering, like I can use the word "bodyworker" in reference to myself without feeling any embarrassment or caveats.
So life here goes on... three more weeks!

Almost back
I know I finally just have to do it.
Write a journal entry, that is.
At first, when I was feeling too overwhelmed to write, I was keeping outlines of my days... to flesh out into journal entries... later... and then I stopped doing that. And hell, now there's been an entire midquarter break in between then and now.
Tonight, I am very tired. And I am going to take care of myself by going to sleep rather than stay up writing. So, next time...
